It goes without saying, when talking about active holidays in Trentino and Val di Fassa you immediately think of excursions, walks and fun at high altitude. But in addition to trekking, the peaks of the Dolomites have a lot to offer to those who want to exercise and explore these grandiose landscapes: climbing, mountain biking, Nordic walking, fly fishing, stream rafting, tennis and many other adventures!
Val di Fassa is known as one of the most well-known and historically suited tourist destinations in Trentino: thanks to its splendid Dolomite peaks and its green and uncontaminated woods, it presents itself to tourists as an ideal place for summer holidays where, among mountain huts, refuges, trekking and good food reconciles us with authentic nature.
Geographically, Val di Fassa occupies the north-eastern end of Trentino, bordering the provinces of Bolzano (South Tyrol) and Belluno (Veneto). It can be reached from the south through the San Lugano Pass and the Val di Fiemme, from the north through the Costalunga or Sella Passes, and from the east through the Pordoi, Fedaia and San Pellegrino Passes. It is crossed by the Avisio torrent which, crossing the Val di Fiemme and the Val di Cembra, flows into the Adige near the capital. The valley is therefore totally immersed in an Alpine landscape of extreme beauty and rarity, a candidate to shortly enter the UNESCO world heritage list.
In summer, day trippers and hikers find trenches and fortifications reminiscent of the First World War in the Dolomites in the Cima Bocche area, at the Lusia lakes, at the Sella Pass and at the San Pellegrino Pass.
A sea of colors extends before the observer's eye, from the intense green of the woods and flowering meadows to the deep blue of the rivers and Alpine lakes up to the magical phenomenon of "Enrosadira", which reddens the sunsets and creates of light unique in the world, transforming Val di Fassa into a magical enchanted garden.
